🔒 Executive Privacy Summary

AppNet Control is an entirely on-device Android firewall. We do not collect, upload, sell, or share your data with anyone. Android’s VpnService API is utilized strictly as a local loopback packet filter on your device. None of your network traffic is routed through remote servers, and the app contains zero third-party ads or analytics SDKs.

1. Local-Only Architecture (No Remote Servers)

AppNet Control operates under strict local-processing design principles:

Local Loopback VpnService: To block or allow network communication on a per-app basis, Android requires the use of the standard VpnService API. AppNet Control binds this service exclusively to a local TUN virtual network interface residing entirely inside your phone’s operating system kernel.
Zero External Proxying: No remote VPN servers or proxies exist in our infrastructure. Your traffic stays directly between your phone and your Internet Service Provider / Cellular carrier.
No Payload Decryption: AppNet Control operates at the network packet header level. It does not inspect, modify, or decrypt encrypted HTTPS, TLS, or SSH payloads.

2. Data Collection & Analytics

We respect your privacy unconditionally:

No Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for, collect, or store names, email addresses, phone numbers, device IDs, or advertising identifiers.
No Analytics SDKs: The application does not contain Google Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK, AppsFlyer, Mixpanel, or any other telemetry frameworks.
No Advertising Frameworks: The application is ad-free and contains no advertising networks that track user behaviors.

3. Permissions Used & Justifications

Every permission declared in our AndroidManifest.xml serves an explicit, user-serving function:

android.permission.BIND_VPN_SERVICE

Allows the application to create the local TUN loopback interface to selectively drop network packets for blocked apps. Android presents an explicit confirmation dialog before this is enabled.

android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE

Keeps the packet filtering engine active while your device is locked or running other apps, and maintains an ongoing notification showing live status so you always know when protection is active.

android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS

Required on Android 13+ to post the persistent foreground service notification with instant Pause/Stop controls and blocked packet metrics.

android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE & INTERNET

Enables the firewall engine to detect network state transitions (e.g., roaming from Wi-Fi to Cellular data) and dynamically adapt rule enforcement.

android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED

Used solely when you explicitly toggle the “Start on Boot” option in Settings, ensuring your protection resumes when your device reboots.

4. Dual Apps & Multi-User Profiles

AppNet Control supports OEM cloned apps (e.g., Samsung Dual Messenger, Xiaomi Dual Apps, Shelter/Island) and multi-user work profiles. We query the local system LauncherApps and UserManager APIs strictly to identify cloned apps on your device so you can apply independent firewall rules to each profile. This information remains in local device memory and SQLite storage only.

5. Data Retention, Backup & Deletion

All custom rules, bedtime schedules, and dropped traffic history reside strictly within your local SQLite Room database:

Clear Logs: You can purge all dropped packet logs at any time from the in-app Logs tab.
Reset Rules: You can reset all app rules back to default with a single tap in Settings.
JSON Backup: You can export your rules to an encrypted/plain JSON file in your device’s private storage or restore an existing backup.
Uninstallation: Uninstalling AppNet Control immediately and permanently deletes all local databases and configuration files.

6. Legal Compliance & Children’s Privacy

GDPR (Europe) & CCPA (California): Compliant by design through absolute data minimization and zero external transmission.
Children’s Privacy (COPPA): We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13 years of age.
Google Play VpnService Policy: We adhere fully to Google Play’s VpnService requirements regarding user disclosure, non-redirection of commercial data, and foreground service notification visibility.
